Finding Calcutta

It's been awhile since we've given much of an update on our travels. My contract at North Kansas City hospital ended Christmas Eve, but, hesitant to leave right after the holidays, I re-signed until the end of March. Teddy and I have treasured every missed opportunity to catch up with family that we missed last year. In one of my previous posts, I wrote how taking on the role of a travel nurse has truly opened my eyes to what really matters in life, serving others and having community.
That being said, God has been placing on my heart much stronger reasons to stay. As long as I can remember, my desire to travel the world doing mission work, trumped everything else. With everything that's happened in the last year and travel restrictions, it's been put on the back burner for now, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit idly by.
Kansas City, as wonderful as it is, has a multitude of needs. I don't have to travel farther than ten minutes to find ten different ways to make a difference here.
My best friend, Callie, and I are soon to be launching Women of Trade, a platform for women of all skill sets to find resources, both for their careers and personal lives. It will provide a list of educators from a variety of fields and products, including: clothing, accessories, and hands-on equipment for work. The proceeds will be initially used to provide equipment for students in the community service league and stethoscopes for graduates of Meds' CNA program- where I started back in 2016.
While it will be difficult to hold off on new travel plans for now, we are in for another big adventure right here in Kansas City!
"Stay where you are. Find your own Calcutta. Find the sick, the suffering, the lonely-right there where you are- you can find Calcutta all over the world, if you have the eyes to see," Mother Theresa.
Love,
Emma Grace and Teddy
