Putting everything from my apartment into storage and becoming a travel nurse has turned me into something of a minimalist. My tiny Toyota Corolla can only fit so much once Teddy is in the backseat, so here are a few of the staples we bring on to each assignment! *Note, I am not getting commissioned for any of the items listed.

  1. Teddy's collapsible kennel. I found this on amazon when I adopted him and it has been a huge asset in our travels. The sides all fold in until it's a flat rectangle that fits in my backseat (not very easily, however). Because there are doors on two sides, I can maneuver the kennel based on the square footage of our current living situation. 8/10 for convenience.

2. My hard-shelled suitcase and giant tote bag. This picture makes them look smaller, but these two are jam-packed with all my clothes, including scrubs, laptop, books, and miscellaneous things. The suitcase was another amazon find and extends outward to include more packing room. It's a hardy travel companion.

The tote was in my fabfitfun fall box, something I wouldn't have bought myself, but now I don't leave without it!

3. My super-thin, folding yoga mat. This was another fabfitfun gem and I LOVE it! It's so compact that I can stash it in my suitcase or tote bag, and takes up very little floor space. When I'm done using it, I spray it down with Meyer's multi-purpose cleaner and fold it right back up. Yoga=playtime for Teddy

4. Yet another Amazon find, this $20 door stopper has brought me so much peace of mind. The front door to our cottage in Arkansas didn't have a second locking mechanism and we were basically living in the sticks. At night, all I had to do was adjust the height and push it against the door until it didn't budge. It takes up very little space when the bar is shrunk to its smallest height.

5. Why I didn't buy this as soon as I adopted Teddy, I have no idea, but my backseat is finally safe from the endless shedding, mud, and creek water! This was only $19 on Chewy and so so easy to set up, you don't even need directions. Everyone with a dog should buy this, not just travelers!

A quick update! Teddy and I are still in Kansas City and my contract with NKC hospital is up Christmas Eve. I've been working with covid patients almost every shift now, so we moved into a hotel temporarily. My sister is the lead in KC lyric opera's new show, "Amahl and the Night Visitors," and needs to be in a bubble for the next month. I am looking into some contracts farther south (winter is coming) and will keep you posted on our next endeavor!

Stay safe!

Love, Teddy and Emma Grace
